Introduction

Freya. Just the name spreads fear through her enemies. For good reason. She is a hybrid, the first in smite. While she is squishy, she can unload MASSIVE amounts of damage.

She is a melee god which means you have to get up close and personal, which is not always good. If you play her just right, you will carry your team to victory.

Items

I chose these items as they fit well with my play style. I would HIGHLY suggest the normal build to begin with as the snowball build sacrifices a LOT of defense for power.

Yes, they are very close to the recommended build. The recommended build is great but not in that order. I almost NEVER go for physical power (unless they have a lot of magical protection) as the Polynomicon would lose it's weight.

The Polynomicon is great for 2 reasons. Your first pulse shot will hit enemies like a truck. This not only does the damage, but it also works as a scare tactic. Once you get this puppy to full, enemies will think twice about charging after you by themselves.

I chose the Rod of Tahuti as the last item in the build as the 25% MP increase will add a heavy hand to your attacks end-game. If the enemies are gathering up magical protection, switch this for Obsidian Shard.

Pros / Cons

Pros:

- Can use a physical, magical or hybrid build
- Hits like a Howitzer
- 2 Escapes, banish and valkyrie's discretion
- One of the best crowd controllers in the game
- Great as support
- doesn't have to dive towers, she can pick them off with her ult

Cons:

- Squishy as a grape, especially early game
- Badly timed banishes can result in saving an enemy from an ally's ult
- Enemies can close in easily during her ult
- Soloing a lane is almost never viable until end-game

Creeping / Jungling

Most people will tell you she is not a jungler. This is only true for very early game. After about level 6-8 you will become the most efficient jungler out there. All you have to do is pop pulse (which should be at rank 3) and fire away. Keep shooting the buff-holder and the adds will go down. If pulse does not finish it, auto attacks should do the job. After Level 8-9 you should have enough damage output to get them all in one pulse.

I personally love to steal their green/blue. Yellow is a must have in almost all situations and orange is great for running down stragglers.

Team Work

This is where Freya shines. Just about any ally god will benefit greatly from Freya. You will slow down enemies enough for your buddies to get in their face.

I recommend joining forces with a healer or tank though as you will be focused.

Counters to Freya

So far, I've only seen a few that gods that can easily control/dominate Freya. Freya is great at slowing enemies, but being slowed as Freya is pretty much a death sentence.

Anhur - This guy hits HARD. With the build supplied here, he will be one of your main gods you will run from. His slow is hard to avoid as there is no precursor to him putting it down. Those spears are devastating to Freya with this build.

Artemis - She doesn't hit hard, but she hits fast. An Artemis with FBH can be your worst nightmare.

Zeus - If Zeus activates his Aegis Shield, run. Don't think, just run. Every time you hit him with a basic attack you get a charge and 10% of your damage shoved back at you. 3 Charges = death.

Tips

Play defensively. I know Freya is a melee god, but that doesn't mean you must always be smacking minions and gods with your sword. Use pulse often if you're against 2 melee gods in your lane.

Banish is a double edged blade. You can use it to close in on enemies or get out of trouble. Also, try not to save enemies with this skill. He Bo get's really mad if he misses his Crushing Wave.... trust me.

If you're laning with a god that has grabs/slows/regroups do NOT use your ultimate during the regrouping of enemies. Pop pulse and get them down a bit then you can ult them into oblivion.

Summary

I would like to reiterate that Freya is SQUISHY. You will be focused, and you will die.

If you play her smart, you will make the other team cry.

I know it has been said, but I don't know if I agree with the choice of fatalis so early into the game. She needs to be building stats early on. IMO, if you want attack speed with Freya, you should build her with physical damage, which is just as effective. Maybe you could take a Qin's Blades? That would give her extra hp, and some attack speed, plus another proc attack. If you want CD reduction, maybe a Chronos' Pendant would be beneficial, as you are still building stats that way (plus some juicy MP5 for sustain). But enough noob rambling. I like the build (although I prefer physical), and you provide tips for gameplay, which is a great addition.

I thought about that for the longest time and tried it multiple times. I would build her that way if I am getting taken down early game. However, the fatalis is more valuable to me as it boosts movement speed (for chasing down enemies) and cd reduction (more pulse = more death).

I would rather take spear of the magus instead of fatalis, this way polynomicon hurts even more and you get some extra life and magical penetration. This way you could even swap out boots of the magni for the tank boots while maintaining a good amount of magical power. you loose the attack speed of fatalis, but in my opinion its better to hit someone once and do a lot of damage instead of hitting him twice while doing less damage. This is just the way i build her, personal preference i think. overall a nice little guide you have there
