Hi! My name is Ghezzlover.

I started playing Duel around season 2. I managed to maintain a 70%ish percent win ratio by taking advantage of the three second cooldown reduction with beads. Since season 3 started, beads' passive of three second cooldown reduction was removed and this caused problems in my play. Fortunately, Spectral Armor's passive came, the three second cooldown reduction after using a relic and it is simply amazing,

I have no idea why the Duel Section says Season 2...

Chang'e Skills

1st Ability - Crescent Moon Dance (Will be abbreviated as 1 in the Guide)

Very spammy skill. Deals low to moderate damage depending on the enemy's magical defense. Its spamminess allows Chang'e to take advanatage of her passive (Chang'e also gains +25% movement speed with no backpedal penalty when using her dances) and deal reliable sustained damage. Very easy to hit.

2nd Ability - Moonlit Waltz (Will be abbreviated as 2 in the Guide)

Chang'e's mini Aegis Pendant. Most of the time used to evade danger in battle. Sometimes used to get closer to the enemy.

3rd Ability - Moonflower Dance (Will be abbreviated as 3 in the Guide)

Provides healing, some damage and 50% healing reduction to the enemy. Always try to land this skill to the enemy. Also very easy to hit.

Ultimate - Waxing Moon

Does moderate damage and stuns the enemy. Missing her ult can cause you to lose the match. Try your best to land it. Fairly easy to fairly hard to hit depending on the skill and mobility of the enemy.

More details of her skills at:

Bans

Ah Muzen Cab, Kali, Skadi, Freya or Chronos are annoying enemies. Ah Muzen Cab and Freya will ruin your movement speed and cause you to not deal damage efficiently. Kali can easily outshine your damage at close range, Skadi's dog is annoying to deal with and Chronos' ult it annoying to deal with as well. Try to ban 3 of them and hope that the enemy will ban the rest.

Instant Casting

Change's 1, 2 and 3 skills should be set on Instant Casting. Her skills are very easy to hit except for her ult. This would maximize her cooldowns and make her more spammy.

These should be set to Instant Casting:

Early Game

Buy Shoes of Focus and Sprint. Head to the lane directly. Do not brawl with the enemy to try to get the Damage Camp or even get the Mana Camp. Preferably, only get the Mana Camp at around level 6 -8 as Chang'e is pathetic at getting camps at the very start of the game. Ask your bunny to buy 2 - 3 Mana potions. Mana potions would not be needed once the second tier item for Book Thoth is built. At level 5, prioritize upgrading 1 for more efficient lane clearing. Her ult is not needed this early. After all aggressive play is only recommended at around level 10. Do not be aggressive until you build Spectral Armor. Play safe until then.

Mid Game

Once you build Spectral Armor and Breastplate of Valor. "Double Crescent Moon Dance is possible", do it when you feel you will a have huge advantage afterwards. I do it after the 3-1-(2)-1 combo(only use 2 if you're in a bind, if not then don't), use a relic so you can do 1-3 or 3-1 immediately and have 3 seconds less of cooldown for her 2. Then ult the enemy if they try to escape and do another 1 after.

First

Then

use a Relic, Preferably Sprint:

or

Immediately
or

Then

This usual combo takes about 11 - 14 seconds to pull off. They're usually dead at this point.

Her ult can be used to engage against keep away enemies and once you're near, try to dance around your opponent and use Sprint to do the Double Crescent Moon Dance. Activating Sprint will also allow you to stay near to your opponent. Of course, there a lot of scenarios that can happen, but always remember to do the "Double Crescent Moon Dance" only if it will put you in an advantage. Ward Fire Giant at this point and try to steal or keep the enemy away from it. Do not try to kill the Fire Giant, as Chang'e, it will be very hard to do so.

Late Game

Never engage unless sprint is up. Try to kill the enemy and the Phoenix, if not, try to outsustain the enemy and poke the Phoenix to death. Never choose to die to get the Phoenix, this will allow the enemy to get a chance of killing your Phoenix. Even if there is like 300 hp left on the Phoenix, retreat if the enemy is about to get near you.

Feel free to replace Rod of Tahuti if more defense or utility is needed. Items like Gem of Isolation(against enemies with Frostbound Hammer and/or Hastened), Witchblade (against enemies with crazy attack speed like Kali or Ah Muzen Cab), Divine Ruin(against enemies with crazy lifesteal like Ullr), Rod Ascelpius(for increased movement speed and healing) or pretty much any item that could help you win based on the situation.

Alternate items to Rod of Tahuti:

Towers and Camps

While Damage Camp is fancy for your damage, Mana Camp is your friend until Potion of Magical Might is bought to achieve 40% cooldown. Once 40% cooldown is achieved late game with the Magic Potion, feel free to get the Damage Camp. Always prioritize protecting the tower over Camps. Keeping the tower alive until late game will allow you to resist one Fire Giant kill to keep your Phoenix safe.

Why Book of Thoth?

This build is Mana heavy. Chang'e will have 2875 Mana at level 20 and full build. The 3% passive of Mana conversion to Magical power is huge (86.25/86 or 107.81/108 with Tahuti). Chang'e's heals can compensate for the lack of Health in this build and she will benefit a lot from that extra magical power.

Divine Ruin

A lot of people will argue that Divine Ruin should be bought for Chang'e. In my experience, her 3rd Ability - Moonflower Dance is enough to negate the enemy's lifesteal from annoying to manageable. Buying Divine Ruin to enemies with minimal to average lifesteal is a waste. Only buy Divine Ruin when the enemy's lifesteal is crazy high.

Blink

Blink can be used to chase enemies as Chang'e does not have a leap. Blink can secure a kill and lead to your victory when used right:

1. Let your enemy use their actives before blinking to them.
2. Let your enemy use their leap skill before blinking to them.
3. Feel free to use Sprint to force them to use and waste their leap skill.
4. As long as you managed to bring their HP close to zero, blinking towards them almost guarantees that they will die.

Soft Enemies - No Magical Defense enemies

Some enemies will go full damage and this actually is in favor of a tanky Chang'e. You can replace Obsidian Shard with Spear of Desolation for more damage. Obsidian Shard is only useful to enemies with at least one Magical Defense item. Gem of Isolation is my personal favorite against these kind of enemies. The slow granted by the item gives them a harder to time to escape Chang'e's combos. Securing a kill is easier in this case as no penetration item is absolutely needed against soft enemies.

Have Fun!

I hope this build will help people in their matches. I'll try to add pictures in the future and add a build against Magical Gods too. I am still trying to figure out an Anti-Magical Build as most enemies in Duel are Physical Gods.
