Introduction

Heyas! This is FerrumSlash!

Sooo this will be another guide of mine, this time for Cabrakan, Destroyer of Mountains!

Bear in mind that the guide is not the Holy Bible, so you can freely adapt your playstyle after reading this guide.

If you need information for crowd control (which is Cabrakan's world, considering he's a guardian), feel free to check my guide to cc.

CC - Lifesaver, Roflstomper, Whatever

Pros/Cons

Pros :
- All skills contain CC
- Great damage and waveclear for a tank.
- Free percentage-based damage reduction for allies.
- Amazing zoning capabilities.
- Flexibility and utility

Unlike most tanks, ALL of his skills provide damage AND cc (the other one would be Sobek). His waveclear is safer and less clunky than Sobek, even. And his passive makes him a great lane partner.

And his passive. His passive is not one that hinders enemies or buffs yourself. It's a FREE damage reduction for allies, making it a somewhat free Sovereignty (albeit with less range)

He has amazing zoning capabilities with 2 of his skills : His 3 and ultimate. This gives enemies a hard time in moving around and limits their options.

With his kit, he is able to flexibly build between tanky and bruiser, while not reducing his effectiveness.

Cons :
- Clunky escape, his escape being only a speed buff
- Relatively poor initiate, reliant on blink
- 3rd ability makes him stationary.
- Passive usage might be exploited.
- Ultimate might hinder team

Like Ares, Cabrakan's escape is pretty clunky. He might need the help of speed modifiers (ex. sprint or Combat Blink to get out of sticky situations.

His speed buff, is, without blink, his only form of initiate, which is very predictable.

His 3rd ability roots him in place. This makes him susceptible to skill-shots and hard-hitting skills. ( Rama's ultimate, Vulcan's ultimate, etc.)

Allies wanting to utilize his passive might stay close to Cabrakan. The enemy might exploit this by placing a well-placed area-of-effect skill.

Your ultimate, like Ymir's first skill, might hinder allies when used improperly.

Skills

Passive : Shadow Zone

His passive, Shadow Zone, provides a 5% damage reduction for allies in a 30ft radius around Cabrakan. It's a great passive all-around, simple and useful. This passive is most useful for covering your lane partner (ADCs especially, your lane partner in Siege might count too). It also works wonders in Joust and Arena as well. Watch out for that Ymir blinking and freezing you all though!

Skill 1 : Seismic Crush

His 1st skill, Seismic Crush, gives him increased movement speed and damage for 5 seconds or until he lands a successful basic attack. The successful basic attack also STUNS enemies.

This ability is most useful for :

-Gap-closing/Gap-creator : The movement speed buff is useful for either chasing enemies or escaping.

-Initiating : While initiating with blink is most recommended, this skill can also give you the initiation you need.

I max this skill second.

Skill 2 : Refraction Shield

His 2nd skill, Refraction Shield, gives him extra protections on each hit. It also gives stacks which, when maxed, can be expended on the skill to make it stun opponents.

This skill is also a good waveclearing skill.

I level this first, for the increased protections.

Skill 3 : Tremors

His 3rd skill, Tremors, deals damage and sucks in enemies towards Cabrakan. This skill is used by toggling it, and you use mana every 0.5 seconds. This skill is most useful for zoning and saving teammates.

Beware that it roots you in place, though. Gods like Kukulkan or Vulcan will easily home their hard-hitting skills at you.

I level this skill last, because only the damage scales, and the cc is the same all-around.

Skill 4 : Tectonic Shift

His 4th skill's utility lies not in the damage, but the walls. It hinders enemy movement and provides effective zoning. Consider these situations :

1. The enemy retreats to the jungle. Chase him down and block his escape with your ulti.
2. The enemy tries to tower dive you. Pop your ultimate. The enemy will have a hard time retreating from your tower.

And even more scenarios that you can think of.

It can only be destroyed by basic attacks. This makes guardians, warriors, or mages a harder time escaping the walls.

I level it when there's a chance.

Teaming

Teaming with Cabrakan means free damage reduction and amazing zoning capabilities, and 2 medias of stuns to make sure your skills hit.

Some gods that mesh well with Cabrakan :

- Vulcan : Hard-hitting skillshot and his turrets are relatively safe if covered by Cabrakan.

- Zeus : Round up enemies with Cabrakan and place a Lightning Storm over his head.

-/ Kukulkan : This team has an amazing zoning potential. Whirlwind provides effective zoning, and Cabrakan's massive cc makes sure that the hard-hitting ulti lands.

- Xbalanque : Xbalanque's free Golden Bow will make short work of enemies once they're all zoned in on Cabrakan

And many more you can think of, really. His kit is pretty versatile.

Item selections

In his current state, Cabrakan may as well be a decent magical bruiser.
This is why i don't give him a full build.

You can refer to the top of the page for example builds.

Defensive items :

1. Sovereignty

This item, coupled with your passive, reduces allies' damage even more. A handy asset in teamfights.

2. Mystical Mail

Also a good choice for magical bruiser Cabrakan, the aura will help damage the enemies as well as provide physical protection.

3. Breastplate of Valor

A decent supply of mana, good physical protection, and provides cooldown reduction to boot. Overall an amazing item.

4. Bulwark of Hope

A good source of magical protection, and a decent passive to make you survive longer, this is usually the go-to for magical defense.

5. Hide of the Urchin

Provides all-around guardian necessary stats. Health, mana, physical and magical protections.

6. magi's blessing

This item's passive is a godsend. Cabrakan doesn't have built-in cc-reduction/immunity, so having this item on-hand is very, very useful.

7. Void Stone

My choice of magical defense in bruiser Cabrakan, it provides decent magical power and protection, while also giving you (and your ally maages) penetration.

8. Stone of Gaia

It provides massive magical protection, and the passive is quite nice, too.

9. Heartward Amulet

A new season 2 item, it's essentially a Magical version of Sovereignty. With this item combined with it and Cabrakan's passive, it's essentially 3 auras.

Hybridization/offensive items

1. Ethereal Staff

Definitely a fine pick. It provides a large amount of health, mana, and a solid passive that converts a percentage of your health into magical power.

2. Gem of Isolation

Cabrakan doesn't have a built-in slow in his kit, so using this item is rather beneficial, too. your 2 slows your enemies, and enemies will have a harder time escaping your ult.

3. Polynomicon

Provides amazing sustain, and provides decent damage when followed up by your skill 1.

Cores/Starters

1. Watcher's Gift

I rarely play conquest, but this item makes sure you don't fall behind on gold and exp with your lane partner.

2. Reinforced Greaves

Great cc-reduction and protection. The movement speed bonus is handy as well.

3. Shoes of Focus

Since penetration means zip for Cabrakan if going for offensive boots, get this pair. It provides you the necessary cooldown reduction for your skills.

Actives

1. blink

A must-have, this item is essential for initiation. Combat Blink is also a viable option if you need to get out of frequent sticky situations.

2. Weakening Curse/ Enfeebling Curse

Since Cabrakan doesn't have built-in slow, this item work wonders in team-fights. It can also help you and your allies escape.

3. sprint

This active can also be used to catch up to enemies or escape. The slow immunity is handy, too.

4. Aegis Pendant/ Purification Beads

These items provide damage immunity and cc immunity. Use these when certain gods like Anubis or Ares are present.

Tips and Tricks

- Initiating with blink is a great way to get into a fight. Without blink, your initiate would be only a predictable (and rather useless at lower levels) speed buff.

- Try not to killsteal or last hit minions.(in game modes like conquest, by the way). Your ADC needs exp more than you. That's why you get Watcher's Gift. This is especially true for Cabrakan since all his skills deal damage.

- Mind enemy and team positioning. A well-placed Tremors or Tectonic Shift will help you and your team a lot. It cancels ganks, zones, saves teammates, and maybe yourself. Bad positioning means setting yourself up for a hard-hitting skillshot.

Summary

Cabrakan is an amazing tank with an amazing playstyle. But be careful. His kit will either help or hinder allies, depending on how you and your allies act.

Thank you for reading this guide. I hope this guide gives you a better insight in playing Cabrakan and kicking *** with the Destroyer of Mountains!

With the recent buff to Celestial Legion Helm, could that be viable for our big loveable bruiser? Cabrakan being Support sways me into thinking that it makes sense.

as of the latest patch, they changed how refraction shield works now, might want to reflect that in your guide.

FYI, it's not my intention for it to be minimalistic....

Thanks for the feedback :)

It's still missing Tips and Tricks and a gameplay section. I'll be working on it soon.
