Xbalanque Build

Build Item Ninja Tabi Ninja Tabi
Build Item Transcendence Transcendence
Build Item Deathbringer Deathbringer
Build Item Rage Rage
Build Item Bloodforge Bloodforge
Build Item Qin's Sais Qin's Sais

Why Xbalanque?

Xbalanque is my hunter of choice for Arena. His move set works very well in arena because they can be used multiple ways. I max his 1 first, then 2, then 3, and of course level 4 whenever possible. Once you get transcendence you can get your stacks on minions very quickly. When you get full stacks, you can keep your one active for the rest of the match.

Hey Debonair,

Okay, for your Xbalanque build, this one is a bit all over the place. I'll explain what I mean.

There are two routes: focusing on abilities, or focusing on basic attacks. For both, power and penetration are helpful, but each one utilizes different items for best effect.

Ninja Tabi (basic attacks): has attack speed, which is good for basic attacks.

Transcendence (abilities): has power and mana. Sure, power can increase basic attack damage, but this item is specifically used for higher ability damage and using abilities more often without needing to go back to base or use potions (mana use). This would be best used in an ability-based build (without crits) with lots of CDR (e.g. Jotunn's Wrath).

Deathbringer + Rage (basic attacks): as a combo, this is fine. People usually prefer Malice first, and Deathbringer later, just for actual damage output efficiency, but in Arena, if you're set on building crit, Rage's lower price makes the build more do-able. But you'd probably want to build it with Rage first to increase your overall % chance to crit. Second thing here...you get more crits if you hit more often. To this point, you've only built 1 attack speed item, so you're not giving yourself enough hits/second to really make this effective. You also lack any penetration, which isn't a huge issue against squishies, but will make things less effective against tanks. Really, these should be built after getting more attack speed items.

Bloodforge (basic attacks...sort of): Okay, this is a sustain item, similar (but without the stacking) to Devourer's Gauntlet. These are important for Conquest or some other modes early in the build for sustain, but in this build, it just doesn't fit that well, especially at this stage. The power is nice, and any sustain can help, but again, it's about maximizing crits at this point.

So, if you need/want the sustain in your build, the better (and cheaper) choice would be Asi. It carries some good attack speed, a bit of penetration, and the lifesteal for boxing. But you should get it earlier than the crit items.

Qin's Sais (basic attacks): okay, yikes, this is a really expensive build. No way are you completing this before the match is done. In some long matches, ADCs might build the crit unicorn with both crit items and Qin's, but not in a short Arena match. Because of price, you'll usually choose one or the other...2 crit items, or Qin's Sais + high penetration. Choose one or the other.

So...I'd suggest looking at standard ADC/hunter builds. There are some very specific reasons why they're built that way. Ninja Tabi Ichaival Asi Malice Deathbringer + your choice of final item (not Qin's) would be okay, to build attack speed before crit. Or you could try Ninja Tabi Ichaival Asi Qin's Sais Titan's Bane + your choice of final item if you want to incorporate Qin's.

But I'd probably leave Transcendence out, unless you turned this into an ability-based build.
