Introduction

Yo, Stuke once again for another guide. This is going to be different from any of the other guides I wrote as it does not focus on one god or goddess. This will be a guide looking at all the warriors smite has to offer.
Note: you don't have to follow this guide to the smallest detail, these are suggestions on how to play these warriors. I encourage you to look at the comment section below and see other suggestions.

Who are the Warriors?

Versatility: capable of or adapted for turning easily from one to another of various tasks, fields of endeavor, etc.

This is what the Warriors in Smite are, and they are good at it. They can either be classified as Assassins with Guardian-like qualities or Guardians with Assassin-like qualities. Smite made these warriors built around the idea of "Jack of all Trades, Master of None" as they can serve different roles like Solo Lane, Jungle, or the Support role with ease.
Note: This guide is under the assumption that whoever reads this knows what these gods' abilities do and look at what to build and what role they seem likely to be in.

How to Build your Warrior

Warriors do not rely on their ability to deal damage but on their ability to do things to annoy the enemy team. So, build around their kit and try to use it to your full advantage, this also depends on what your role is as well, and will be the focus of building up your warrior. Here is some sample build that should get you started depending on what kind of warrior you're playing:

Achilles

Stats
Health: 465 (+82)
Mana: 205 (+35)
Speed: 370 (+0)
Range: 16 (+0)
Attack/Sec: 0.95 (+1.25%)

Basic Attack
Damage: 38 (+ 2) + 100% of Physical Power
Progression: None

Protection
Physical: 17 (+3)
Magical: 30 (+0.9)

Regen
HP5: 9 (+0.75)
MP5: 4.7 (+0.39)

Powerful as he is beautiful, Achilles is a great addition to the warrior roster. Being able to apply constant damage and sustain effectively, Achilles is a good pick if you like to bully your opponent out of the lane and being a front line force in any team fight. It should also be noted that Achilles is the first warrior to have an execute but becomes a serious target after he manages to kill some enemies with it. The best part is being able to take off or wear your armor to either play more like a tank or a DPS depending on playstyle or role on the team.

As Achilles needs his kit to survive, I suggest an Ability build to keep the cooldowns short and apply that damage to overpower your opponents. You will also need to consider if you want to focus more on Shirt or Skin as one benefits more from defense items and the other likes offense items.

Achilles is best placed in the Solo role but can be a great Jungler or Support depending on the build as well what he's wearing that can play a big factor in ineffectiveness in that role.

Amaturasu

Stats
Health: 470 (+82)
Mana: 220 (+35)
Speed: 375 (+0)
Range: 12 (+0)
Attack/Sec: 1 (+1.2%)

Basic Attack
Damage: 39 (+ 2) + 100% of Physical Power
Progression: 1/.5/1 damage and swing time

Protection
Physical: 18 (+3)
Magical: 30 (+0.9)

Regen
HP5: 8 (+0.8)
MP5: 4.8 (+0.4)

Amaterasu is a hybrid warrior that plays like support using her aura effects to give her teammates a boost. Her ability to sustain herself and give huge amounts of area damage to keep the enemy at bay. She has a very good clearing and mobility skills to make her a tough cookie to crumble but can be taken out if ambushed. Ama has a decent Early Game, not great but good enough, to not dangerously fall behind but if ahead can make catching up to her a form of torture.

Amaterasu can go with an Ability, Auto-Attack, or Hybrid build as not only does she have good ability damage and needs a cooldown to make full use of her abilities, but her kit also allows her to go with an Auto-Attack build.

Amaterasu can not only be devastating in her lane, but also the game in general. Her ability to give teammates auras that can either give power or movement speed can make killing the enemy a hell of a lot easier on the team. Seen in the Solo Lane or Jungler role for her sustain, tankiness, high mobility, control, and power for those two roles but can also play a very decent Support if chosen for the slot.

Bellona

Stats
Health: 480 (+85)
Mana: 220 (+35)
Speed: 375 (+0)
Range: 12 (+0)

Progression: Special

Protection
Physical: 18 (+3)
Magical: 30 (+0.9)

Regen
HP5: 8 (+0.8)
MP5: 4.8 (+0.4)

Bellona is a special case of a warrior in which she is not a warrior but a bulky assassin. All her abilities provide high amounts of damage, lots of utility, and has little to no drawback after using the said ability. Bellona takes off in the Early-Mid Game as she can deal high amounts of damage during those stages of the game compared to all other warriors.

Bellona, like Amaterasu, can work with an Ability, Auto-Attack, or Hybrid Build extremely well as she has high power from her abilities and basic attacks combined with her passive Master of War also providing a huge chunk of movement and protection.

Bellona is Hi-Rez's special snowflake that seems to have been created to be the bane of everyone's existence. Bellona can take on every role with ease because of her kit giving her natural tankiness, mobility, control, utility, and power but mostly seen in that Jungle or Solo Lane.

Chaac

Stats

Progression: 1/.5/1.5x damage

Protection
Physical: 18 (+3)
Magical: 30 (+0.9)

Regen
HP5: 7 (+0.8)
MP5: 4.7 (+0.39)

Chaac has a lot of sustain both health and mana wise as each basic attack builds stacks on his passive Overflow so that when he uses an ability it doesn't cost any mana. Chaac also has multiple tricks up his sleeve revolving around his ax and his abilities giving an additional effect when his weapon is on the field. Chaac is good in the Middle Game as his clear Thunder Strike can easily take down the minion wave and his heal Rain Dance will give him enough to stay in the lane.

The best way to build Chaac is to go with an Ability or Hybrid build as he has very good ability damage in the Early Game but in the later stages he loses that damage and would switch to a bit of an Auto-Attack style or he'll become a walking CC machine which doesn't help the team if there are two tanks.

Chaac is what I believe a warrior should possess, good CC, good protection, decent damage, and great sustain. He also has some interesting combos and tricks in his arsenal. You'll find a Chaac in the Solo role as he can stay in the lane longer than most other gods in the game because of his high health and mana control. Well, other than Chang’e but that's a different case for another time.

Cu Chulainn

Physical: 17 (+3)
Magical: 30 (+0.9)

Regen
HP5: 9 (+0.75)
MP5: 0 (+0)

The first god to not use mana, Cu Chulainn is a powerhouse in the right hands and could never leave lane if you keep his health up and not get bullied out of the lane. Cu is hard to work with at first with managing his rage and keeping a presence throughout the game but if you can master those then this god is a game-changer.

Cu Chulainn is like a hybrid warrior, he has good ability and auto damage, but should lean more to the ability side as he needs cooldown to get his abilities off quickly but some in-hand stuff as it's just as strong and needed when you want to build up your rage for Berserk.

While he's not much of a threat when in his normal form, the enemy shouldn't let Cu get his rage building unless they want to see what his presence is like first hand. While playing this god, remember to not spam your abilities too much so you can go berserk in a team fight and show the enemy team what this god can do.

HP5: 8 (+0.6)
MP5: 4.7 (+0.3)

I'm going to admit that Erlang Shen feels like a mix of different gods thrown into one with some minor to major changes along the way. being a basic attack-oriented warrior, Erlang uses his abilities for crowd control, survival, and damage to amplify his and his teammate's damage. Loving to be in the middle of an engagement, like all the other warriors on this guide, Erlang plays the most like a full-on boxer then even Osiris.

The best way to build Erlang Shen is to auto-attack. He has very high basic attack damage and with his abilities to stay in the fight and keep dishing out more damage along the way. This set up is perfect for a boxer like him.

Being a mixed bag of other abilities thrown into one, Erlang Shen's "copy kit" makes him unique as his abilities will feel familiar to new players of this god and make playing him and coming up with strategies for him a lot easier than a god with new mechanics. You'll find Shen in either the solo or jungle as his survivability and lane clearing power good compared to some of the other warriors in the game.

Guan Yu is a little bit more unique than most warriors as he's one of a few warriors in Smite who's a healer thanks to his 1st ability, Conviction. Guan Yu starts to take off and becomes a serious threat when his hits level 5 and gets his ultimate Cavalry Charge ready.

It would be best to build him with an Ability Build as Guan needs the cool-down for his abilities to be able to fight back against the opponent.

Guan Yu's Solo Lane potential is good as his passive Painless helps with boosting his clearing abilities and sustain. It is also not uncommon for him to be in the Support role as his control, utility, and defensive can make a hard egg to crack.

Hercules is immediately whom you think of when the word warrior pops into your head. His ability to take damage and dish it back thanks to his passive Strength from Pain and Mitigate Wounds makes him a force not to be trifled with. Herc can be very effective in all stages of the game and never falls off because of his kit.

The best way to build Hercules is to go for an Ability-Based build as he heavily relies on his 2-1 combo for all his damage, plus the cooldown reduction can make his combo, heal, and ult comes off cool down quickly.

Hercules will most commonly be seen in the solo lane for his ability to sustain life and to clear the lanes with ease, or in the support role as his famous Earthbreaker into Driving Strike can make some great setups plus his natural tankiness can also help him as well.

While the concept of a Warrior playing support is not unheard of but it's not as effective when compared to Guardians, expect for Horus. Horus plays a more supportive role when compared to the others in his class as his kit revolves around moving around and controlling the enemy team through CC lockdowns and team-wide teleportation.

Horus needs his abilities to help his team so a tanky ability-based build will be the best option for him. In the support role, build protections and CDR will be a top priority to keep your allies alive. If you're solo, you might consider some basic attack items as once your combos are down you will have to rely on your basic attacks to continue the pressure.

As stated up above, Support and Solo are the lanes Horus excels at the most. There are cases of Horus playing Jungle, but it's not recommended unless you have enough knowledge with him to be able to do that.

With sword in hand and a crown on his head, Arthur is king in combat. Slicing and dicing his way through everything that gets in his way, King Arthur ability to weave his two stances, Standard and Combo, abilities in multiple variations compared to any other god in the game who has one to two combos, at most, while the potential for Arthur is practically limitless with his two kits.

Being so ability reliant, it's a no-brainer that Arthur works best with items that help him spam his kits and some defense items to keep him alive, so the Ability build is a good standard for him.

While Arthur makes for a good solo lane god, he can excel in the jungle due to his fast clearing with a cleaving basic and his first ability. It's going to take a while for him to come alive until you get at least one point in all your abilities.

Similar to Bellona but cranked up to 11, Mulan is a swiss-army-knife that gets better the more you use her abilities. The longer the match goes on, the more dangerous Mulan becomes with the Mastery mechanic for her abilities giving more active and passive effects to and from her kit.

While Mulan has a nice hit-chain for a Hybrid or Auto-Attack build but I feel a pure Ability base itemization suits her best. Needing to get her abilities online and at the ready as soon as possible get items to boost her CDR as well as provide protection and health as she needs to lean more to the tankier side of the warriors to survive.

Mulan dominates in two roles, Solo and Jungle. Her ability to clear effectively as well as the gank and mobility potential from Grapple makes her a solid pick for those two roles but beginner Mulan players should stick to Solo until they get more comfortable with her.

Nike is a weird case, she relies on an aggressive play style to even make it throughout the match but her passive To Victory! and other crowd controls also emphasize a minor support role as well. Her main strategy is to jump in with Valiant Leap, hit the squishy with Rend, and pop Sentinel of Zeus if you need more control and tankiness.

Nike works best with an Ability Build as her main source of damage comes from her abilities like Rend while using Valiant Leap and Sentinel of Zeus for survival or escapes.

Best suited for Solo Lane, her ability to clear, regenerate, and escape make her a great threat in that role. Wait until you hit level 5 or until one goal in your passive comes online then make your move on the enemy and try to keep the pressure up while not dying in the lane.

Oh, Odin, you had so many nerfs, buffs, and even a kit remake and they still don't know what to do with you. Back on track; Odin's kit is strange in that all his abilities seem Assassin-like. His kit revolves around his ultimate, Ring of Spears, so he can gain power and movement speed from his passive Path to Valhalla. Odin has a very strong early game thanks to his "Bird Bomb”, Raven Shout followed with Lunge, but kind of falls short in the later stages of the game because his damage wouldn't be enough to kill someone as they start to get bulky as the match goes on.

Odin heavily relies on an Ability Build as his Early Game power is off the charts and having more damage items can help you carry harder into the Late Game.

Odin is a great choice for multiple roles such as the Solo Lane, Support, or Jungle for his damage, control, and utility that can help the team to win the game.

Osiris is different from other warriors as he's an AA based god that must get close to deal damage and to use his abilities to catch up, slow, stun, mitigating, and remove all healing to his opponents. An interesting mechanic that Osiris possesses is his passive Fragmented, when he uses an ability it removes a body part from himself and for each part you lose your damage mitigation is increased by 2%/1%, depending on the type of damage taken, per body part. Osiris can be a very good Early Game god and it is possible to get First Blood before the 5-minute mark because of his ability to mitigate damage with his passive, stun them early on with Judgement Tether, or slow them with Sickle Strike.

Osiris is one of the best Auto-Attack based warriors in the game as his natural ability to box anyone plus his passive giving some resistance to damage; but in later seasons, Osiris has been capable of using a more abiliy-focused build to better spam his abilities and being a meat shield for his allies.

New players will have a bit of a rocky start trying to figure out what he can and can't do as his control is very wonky and hard to use because your opponent can just walk away without any penalty. With Osiris' kit and way, he plays makes him a decent Jungler, and a good Solo Laner.

Out of all the warrior's in Smite, I say with the utmost confidence that Sun Wukong has the most unique kit compared to all the other warriors currently in the game. His kit is very special as it has multiple functions which is why I consider Wukong the "Jack of all Trades" character of the Warrior Class. Wukong is considered a very good lane bully with the long-range poke of The Magic Cudgel, high sustain with Somersault Cloud, and different crowd control or escapes from 72 Transformations.

Wukong is one of the best Ability-Based warriors in the game as he has high poke damage and his ability combos make him a dangerous opponent if he's in the right hands.

Sun is very versatile and could serve more roles than some of the other warriors out there, he has the natural tankiness and control of a Support, the lane clear and sustain of a Solo Laner, as well as the damage and ganking potential of a Jungler.

Tyr is another great warrior as he can change his playstyle and kit with Change Stance it feels like he has 6 abilities in total, Guard and Assault. When playing him, you must make full use of his Fearless into Power Cleave Combo. When you level up Change Stance, it can increase the damage he has or the amount of protection he gets depending on the stance. He doesn't have a great Early Game but in the Mid-Late Game, he can do some serious damage as he can take hits, deal it back, and more.

Going for an Ability-based build on Tyr is the best way to build him as he needs to have a high cooldown reduction to be able to constantly switch his battle stances and perform his combos faster.

When it comes to playing Tyr, it's going to be more difficult than some of the other warriors in the game as you'll have to learn when to use his abilities at the right time and when to change his stance, so he can use the right combo to claim his kill. Tyr, like all the other warriors, is great in the Solo role but his kit and the abilities he provides makes him a great Jungler as well.

Vamana is an AA based warrior like Osiris, but most of his power comes from his passive Sleeping Giant as he gains physical power from buying items that offer physical protections or by simply leveling up which makes him a very good ADC or another hard-hitting physical god counters. When playing Vamana, you'll have to play passive, farm the lane, and try not to die as he is the best stalemate god for the solo lane.

When it comes to building Vamana, you want to build around his ultimate Colossal Fury, as he gets damage from a percentage of his physical protection and you want to keep close to your opponent and dish out as much damage as you can. An Auto-Attack or Ability build can help to capitalize on this playstyle.

Vamana is the hardest warrior to work with because of his steep learning curve you must get used to. He is great in the solo lane as his Umbrellarang is great for clearing the lanes and he's known for being the best at causing a stalemate in the Solo Lane but can also be a good Support because of his natural tankiness plus Colossal Fury can keep him in the fight.

Conclusion

In Conclusion, all these warriors, some better than others, are all intricate and have many potentials for serving other roles like being great support or excelling in the jungle. If any more warriors come out or the gods receive a stat buff or nerf I'll be keeping updated on it. Hi-Rez's idea of what a warrior should serve has been right on the money and hope they make more in the future.

Stuke, you suggest the AA build for Osiris. In talking with Taco about him, in his experience he focuses more on ability (going an early Gladiator's Shield and Warrior Tabi) as he feels it's more effective (since you can bully and proc it on his 1 so often).

Inters3ct also suggests this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R7dUNlmYC8Y

I think a hybrid build, but with an early ability focus, would be better.

One thought...maybe you can offer 2 builds for each category? Hybrid 1, Hybrid 2, etc.?

Both Glad and Berserker's are viable on Osiris, but Glad is generally the better choice.

Hybrid build make no sense to me. Since its even more basic attack focus . Also Shogun's Kusari is an aura item and aura items in solo ? Kinda vague ?

Branmuffin17 (394) | April 30, 2020 8:50am
So the Hybrid build IS, and it isn't more basic-attack focused. Mainly, if you think about basics and abilities, you'll see that the hybrid build has 20% CDR by 3rd item, and 30% by 5th. In the Basic Attack build, it's 10% by 4th item, and 20% by 6th. Thinking of it that way, makes more sense, right?

Shogun's is an aura item, yes. But by 4th/5th item, you're already rotating and starting to teamfight. It gives you magical prots to balance physical ones you might have gotten earlier, has AS to support a hybrid or basic-attacker, and when you group up for fights or objectives, it makes ALL of your nearby teammates deal more damage.

Void as another aura item is purchased even earlier, but as one of the few bruiser items that provides good physical prots, some power, and some health, you're mainly getting it that early for those stats, not the % pen so much. But if you also consider that at the point you're picking up Void, the enemy's also probably built against you, so their physical prots are probably in the range of 100 or so. That means this item provides maybe around 15 flat pen equivalence, which is not a bad early-game amount.

I think I am going to say that for a hybrid build the general hybrid builds is pretty AA focussed with 5 items going for basic attacks.

Most hybrid builds usually focus a bit more on their ability damage so seeing a ninja instead of warrior.

iirc correctly in earlier seasons the assassin hybrid build often included: Warrior Tabi, Jotunn's Wrath, Transcendence, Hydra's Lament, The Executioner, Qin's Sais giving them a 3-3.

this one is kinda 1-4 (1-5 if we count shield)

Minor thing, you say Guan Yu is the only healer warrior. Nothing crazy, but a bit outdated since Horus came out.

I did it, all the current warrior guides are finished. I will still prioritize warriors over other classes but I can now start to remake all my other guides.

I main Amaterasu, and I agree with some of these points but I don't think your hybrid build is very effective. First of all, gladiators shield is a bridge item, and provides low stats. I prefer Breastplate of valor, even if it was nerfed, because it is just more reliable. the higher cooldown is very nice and the MP5 gives good sustain. frostbound hammer seems like a good choice, but on Amaterasu, it is better to get either witchblade for the anti-heal and reduces enemy attack speed, as well as your own additional attack speed. My build for a conquest/joust game is bluestone, warrior tabi, BoV, witchblade/winged blade (Witchblade for anti-heal, winged blade if low healing), jotunns wrath, bulwark of hope (especially if mid is snowballing, but this can be switched to several things depending on team comps), and finally masamune or 1 more defense items. overall I agree that these builds work, but I think adding in the note that gladiators shield is only meh would help a lot of people out. good guide though, I can tell you have spent a lot of time working on it. :3

I've got a single question.
Why are you so fond of Mystical Mail? I see it in pretty much your every build for an AA based Warrior. I mean, it's obviously not a bad item, but I think it gets outclassed by the alternatives. On auto attackers with good abilities/ability damage, building BoV for the CDR and mana can be life saving, while on pure auto attackers there are better items for phys. defence, for example the buffed Witchblade or the Hide of the Nemean Lion.

I think he's so fond of Mystical Mail because it punishes the enemy for getting close to you.

Every warrior is 'close-range', so with Mystical Mail, you'll be able to punish your enemy for sticking to you, and deal damage even if you miss attacks/abilities.

Plus it's great for finishing low-health enemies trying to run without actually needing to be right next to them, got a few kills that way. :P
