Overview

(Attack Speed/Crit)

This build is designed to give you high damage output and limited sustain. It has been tested against power builds IN-GAME and come out on top. It leaves you squishy, but that does not mean you have to die in an unfavorable encounter. Play patient, and strike the unsuspecting as well as the overconfident and you will do well using this build.

Pen Build is HERE!!!

The Damage

Main Build (Crit)

This build offers you high attack speed, minion clear, and kill secure. As an assassin you need to earn some kills early game to progress your build and stay on top. To that end, I have Rage as the third item following boots and Soul Eater. Let's go ahead and break down each item.

Ninja Tabi: I know the current trend is to use Warrior Tabi, however that doesn't sit right with me on an attack speed based build. Ninja Tabi provides some initial attack speed and still gives you some power increase. This works very well with later items.

Soul Eater: This is what gives you a small amount of sustain. Originally I has Asi as the life steal item, but I found that it cut into the damage output. This item having 20% life steal and 30% attack speed made it so I could survive a 1 on 1 with another assassin. Unfortunately Loki is still over powered. The passive on this is great too, so it doesn't hurt to help clear minions to make use of it.

Rage: Early game kills are crucial and I find that if I don't get first blood, then this usually helps get my first or second kill. The passive of increase crit chance is all but too good to pass up. I recommend this item for any crit build.

Hydra's Lament: I would honestly prefer Jotun's Wrath for more cooldown, however that is not our only goal with this item. The passive gives you increased damage on your next basic after using an ability. This works extremely well with Awilix's 2, 4, and in some case her 1. Combining this with her passive adds two instances where your basic attack gets a nice boost.

Odysseus' Bow: This items has the highest attack speed boost of all the items. It's passive basically grants you chain lightning on your fourth basic attack. The damage it small, but I noticed recently that it CAN crit. This helps clear minions and weaken enemy players.

Malice: This item...this one right here, man. I thought originally that Rage and Deathbringer would seal the deal, but I learned otherwise. Malice leaves a dot on the target and increases your crit chance, plus your power. Your crits start to hit harder by this point and taking damage from two sources makes your kill time very short. Sometimes the dot even kills them when they run away saving you some frustration. I ALWAYS use Malice instead of Deathbringer.

The Strategy

(For Crit Build)

Most of your kills will come from chaining your abilities to keep the enemy within your reach. Knowing this, you have to carefully choose when you will add your ult into the mix. Your best bet is to stay back and hide behind everything available. Becoming visible to clear minions is okay, but try to keep it to a minimum as you will get picked off quick. Keep in mind your focus is your basic attack.

Initiating a group fight:

If you can completely surprise an enemy and get a few hits in before they react, then initiating an encounter can work in your favor with the support of your team. However, I advise against this as your primary tactic.

Initiating 1v1's:

This is where assassins work best. Awilix get's bonus damage for initiating a fight with an enemy, so you get the upper hand fairly quick. Stay away from Loki, Nox, and any other character that simultaneously stun and do mass amounts of damage. No single kill is worth risking your position.

Taunting:

Though a tank usually grabs the most attention in this game mode, you can split the enemy's focus by randomly using your 3 from behind a wall. You'll do some damage, which makes the enemy have to rethink what they're doing. This also creates an opening for the tank to surprise the enemy and initiate a group fight.

Kill Securing:

This is where Awilix really excels. After group fights begin to dissipate, chasing the enemy is actually not a bad strategy. If you use your 3, followed by your 4; you won't even really have to "chase" anyone. This gives you a chance to single out a weakened enemy and kill them with ease. However if your 4 is down, then I suggest using your 3 to stop their retreat and use your 1 to initiate your 1v1. Always be aware of weakened enemies around you. By "weakened" I mean any slight loss of health.

Close Quarters Strategy:

Once you're on the enemy and beginning your attack, what do you do? That's an easy thing to answer. Make sure to get a few basic attacks in and continuously move around them. Any missed attack from them further increases your chances to win. Wait until they begin to flee and activate your 2 to stop them for a moment and do some damage. Doing this also give you bonus damage from Hydra's Lament. If they try to JUMP away, make use of your 4 to pull them back. There is always an icon below their feet if it is possible, so look for it. I once pulled a jumping Odin back into our tower area and killed him. If your 4 is down determine if they are close enough to pursue. If so, use Suku to run toward them and pounce. Your three can serve as a stun for you to keep the fight in your favor. Send it out and seal the deal.

Substitute Items

(For Crit Build)

I personally don't think it necessary to swap out any of the items in the main build, but sometimes your hand is forced. I recommend the first thing you switch out is Odysseus' Bow. While it adds a ton of attack speed, it adds no damage. Executioner or Stone cutting sword would probably be best, but these are just MY first options.

Well perhaps let me put it this way. If you put an Awilix with a power/pen build up against another Awilix with your build. (All outplay aside if you could use all of your abilities at the same time) The power/pen build would do more damage and faster.

On your notion that "I didn't calculate properly" I went into jungle practice just to help you out. Note that this test is WITHOUT protections (Meaning against gods with protections the pen build is going to do significantly better than your build)

So with a standard pen build. My basic attack rotation did 840 damage (Every time)

With your build my basic attack rotation did between as little as 550 damage and as much as around 1000 damage (Including Malice and Odysseus Bow and if you count the extra basic attack you might be able to get in as a result of increased attack speed as little as 670 damage and as much as 1150 Remember this is with 0 enemy protections

So considering your build has 0 penetration. The penetration build will almost always do more damage with a basic attack rotation throughout the match.

Another thing is that your build hard overcaps on attack speed whenever you use your ult, reducing the benefits of your ult overall.

Overall I don't think you did too much research into how best to build an attack speed AwilixOdysseus Bow instead of Qin's Sais and Soul Eater instead of something like Asi

I'm not trying to bash you or anything. But I want to see more evidence of research and calculations before you get an upvote from me. And especially before you start saying that this build does more than builds that have been carefully tested and proven over the year Awilix has been out.

I'll refrain from voting until I see what you do with this.

As I stated before there are more ways to play every character. I went through several iterations of this build. Using Asi, Quin's Sais, Executioner and swapping them all out and retrying the build. For a crit build that is focused on the basic attacks, this is the most effect one I've found for Arena. The purpose for soul eater is the higher life steal and higher attack speed. This build has given me games where I go very positive. First time I used this particular one I went 17 & 3. Pretty good considering that I will help my teammates often.

You said you tested this in Jungle practice, but this is ONLY for arena. I would never use this crit build in Conquest.

If you want to really determine if you like this or not, use it in Arena and see if it pans out. But should you do that, keep in mind you are focusing ono your basic attack, not your abilities.

I'm going to have to disagree with this build. I've been studying Awilix since she came out and for the entirety, a power/pen build has always proven based on damage calculations to make the best use of her kit.

This build gives her little to no power spikes, the first one being at item 4

While this build is functional. It by no means is the best approach to taking advantage of her kit in the Arena setting, which is what you advertized.

If you want to turn Awilix into a hold left click assassin then this build works

But if you want to utilize her kit. This is not the way to go about it.

Right and there is more than one way to play each character. Now I don't know how you "calculated," but I went ingame and found that on basic attacks, crit is superior to pen. However I do agree that the crit build does not utilize her abilities as much as it could. It suits mine and other people's play styles and is completely worth using.

Hi SirNerdsAlot5,

First thing first, how was this build tested against a "Power Build" and how was it assumed that your build comes out on top?

Awilix's Passive is a 30% power bonus so when you build 3 Attack Speed items you are basically neglecting her Passive completely.

I would never build soul eater on her, if anything build ASI because of the penetration it provides.

Keep in mind, Awilix is a early game God and probably one of if not the best early game gods with her Featherstep damage.

Ninja boots should never be built on her, ever. Always build Warrior Tabi, period. (20 power compared to 40 power in the early game is HUGE)

Always build Jotunn's on her, no questions asked.

If you want me to go into further detail I will but I will wait for your response because I feel like this is just a troll build and I might be wasting my time.

Tested the same character with a good crit build vs a power build. Just basic attacking, crit came out on top about 80% of the time. I have a power/pen build that I am going to add to this as well that isn't attack speed based.

**NOTE: Crit build requires attack speed, or the damage is less than power build.
