First Guide - don't know the codes so hopefully this looks nice.
Pros:
- Fast Movement and Cooldown
- Strong Magic Def
- Strong Physical Def
- Tons of Assist Kills
- Tons of CC support
Con:
- Low Damage output
- Low kill
- Grows Slow due to lack of last hit damage
- Money can be an issue (I personally play without ever buying Pots)
This build and class is meant STRICTLY for Teamfight, Defending and Snaring enemies.
It is IMPORTANT for Ares to control the Arena Communication
1) VVVE (I'm on my way)
2) VVVR (Ultimate is Ready)
3) VVVD (Ultimate is Down)
4) VVVG (Group Up)
5) VRR (Retreat)
6) VAA (Attack!)
What I tend to do is inform my team my Ultimate is ready (#2) followed by #4
hoping they will group up and prepare to unleash their skills once I perform NO ESCAPE
Right before I cast the spell, I hit #6
After performing NO ESCAPE - my role becones a chaser/snarer and pick off any of the ones who survived and has the lowest health.
Chains to slow follow up with Searing Flame (With GOI + more SLOW) and hopefully my teammates are running with me to kill the player off.
Inform your teammate(s) to communicate by saying they have thier Ultimate Up or Down.
Always work with Thor, Odin, Anubis and Zeus as they can wreck havok with Ares NO ESCAPE
Lastly, you are the Tank, so protect your teammate by taking dagame. Give them Buffs at all times and you have AURAS
The only items I use is Beads to break CC (usually when fighting another ARES and Speed Buff to chase down enemies with team ONLY.
I personally focus on leveling Defensive Buff and No Escape ASAP with Searing Flame than finish Chains.
All you need is Chain 1 for the slow which works effectively and with Searing Flames + GOI items - you're good.
You are the LEADER of the Arena and must communicate at all times. You are not there to kill but to support, defend and set traps.
You are there to control every aspect of the games.

As you stated above, this is a costly build and you will definitely be behind on finishing your items mid to late game, so I wouldn't recommend this build to newer or less experienced players. Even when skipping out on pots (which means less sustain and less lane time) you'll probably not have a chance to keep up with the enemy team (especially if they are magical, you die early on, or your team falls behind).
Also, the item build seems to contradict your skill build, as you will need to zone out the opposing lane or kill them to ensure you get enough gold. With Gem of Isolation being your first actual damage item over a Void stone or other (cheaper) aura item, it might be a bit difficult. Other than that, decent build (against physicals).
