Introduction

Hi,
I've been playing around with different Arena builds on Xing over the last few days and finally settled on this. In my opinion it's the perfect balance of sustain, CC & damage and will give Ares a run for his money as Arena king easily doing 30k+ player damage in a match.

Anyway enough jibber-jabber and on to the good stuff!

Pros / Cons

Pros:
+ High Sustain
+ Good Mobility
+ Lots of CC
+ Decent Damage
Cons:
- Mana hungry

Playstyle

Start a match by tanking all the damage from jungle camps then porting back to buy blink, play defensively until you hit level 5 then hit the enemy with a blink > Whirlwind of Rage and Steel > Hook Slam combo, then switch back to playing defence and looking out for opportunities to Hook Slam an enemy or two until your ult is ready again.

Once you are at the point where your Stone of Gaia is finished you can start to really get in your enemy's face and constantly pressure them.

The playstyle is very similar to Ares, so if you have experience playing him you should be ok.

Items

Shoes of Focus Max CDR is first priority and Xing is a magical god so these are a no brainer.

blink Port back to spawn and grab this after killing jungle buffs so you can blink-ult as soon as you hit lvl 5. Don't upgrade this until you have finished maxing your CDR.

Breastplate of Valor This brings you up to the max CDR cap, makes you a bit tankier and also gives some much needed mana. All round great item for Xing.

Sovereignty Solid item for a tank; Health, Protections & some HP5.

Stone of Gaia Health, Magic protections, MP5, HP5 and moar HP5 from it's passive! Synergy between this, your other HP5 items and a fully stacked passive is insane! I've done the maths and with the full item build you max at just over 3.6k HP and 4.8% HP5.

Gem of Isolation A good chunk of power, some health and mana but the beauty of this item is it's passive. This item helps to keep you on the tail of slippery gods while boosting your damage.

Ethereal Staff Puts all the health that you have been stacking to good use, build this before Gem of Isolation if you have no problems catching your enemies.

Skills

Smouldering Rage Your passive; Gives you a stack of HP5 every time you hit an enemy with an ability, works on enemy minions too.

Furious Roar Great for stacking your passive during the early game. During late game this does nice damage & you will ruin an auto attack god's day by cutting their damage in half.

Hook Slam This is your bread & butter, AoE knock-up followed by a root on a short cooldown. Use this in combination with your leap to initiate a fight while your Ult is down.

Sky-Cutting Axe A leap followed by a second shorter leap, solid gap closer or an escape. Self-explanatory. The protections buff does NOT activate by hitting minions.

Whirlwind of Rage and Steel Spin-to-Win!! Sweeps up any enemies caught in its circle then throws them all in a nice tidy pile for your teammates to explode. Immediatly follow this up with Hook Slam to make sure they stay in a tidy pile :)

Summary

Thanks for reading! Any feedback is appreciated. I might try to get a gameplay video linked when I have a chance :)

I look forward to trying it out. I've been practicing Xing in the arena. Once I blink in, whirlwind and hookslam, I'm not sure what to do next. If my team follows my engagement, it works out. If they don't, I just die in vain.

If only more people would wear their damn headsets (I play XB1)

You shouldn't be dying.. Use hook slam and roar leap out.. Repeat whenever there's openings. Poke with roar till low health then ult into hook into roar at this point if they are still escaping double leap past them hook and roar again. If they're still alive your team really sucks! Lol

P.s. Make sure you aim where u want to throw them with your ult

The build looks good, but I don't like your skill order. Can you tell me why you've chosen to max hook slam vrs roar? I'm a fan of roar over hook slam so I'm a bit confused. Is it because you get your damage stuff later levels?
