My name is Jaden, and this is my first SmiteFire guide. I am currently a Mastery 2 Medusa. Medusa was the first god(dess) I ever bought in Smite and she is still awesome to this day. (I did take a little break from Smite after I bought her). Anyways, this is my guide on Medusa: The Gorgon
Medusa is a Greek, ranged, physical hunter. She comes out of no where and then BAM! You're dead. And I'm not exaggerating when I say that. With the right items, Medusa can basically insta-kill. But what makes her so powerful you ask? Well, first, we need to review her abilities.
Sidewinder: This is Medusa's passive. She takes no movement penalty when moving left and right, and half movement penalty when moving backwards.
Viper Shot: This is her first ability. Medusa fires one of her snakes instead of regular arrows. This is not a togglable option, as you only get 3 shots before you go on cooldown. The snakes leave poison on your enemies, dealing damage over time. Medusa's attack speed when firing these deadly snakes is also increased as well.
Acid Spray: Without this ability, she wouldn't be as overpowered as she already is. Medusa hurls acid at her enemies. The first enemy hit takes damage and the enemies around the enemy attacked with acid spray also take damage.
Lacerate: Medusa quickly slithers forward rooting and slashing the first enemy god that she hits. This will reduce the enemy god's healing for a short amount of time. Healing reduction is also increased as you level up this ability.
Petrify: It wouldn't be Medusa without her signature move: Petrify. Medusa takes off her mask revealing the disgusting face that lies behind it. Enemy gods are stunned and take great amounts of damage. (+100% of your physical power. Yeah... that's overpowered). Enemy gods killed by the ability get turned into a stone statue that you and your teammates can destroy. Enemy gods not looking at Medusa take half damage and are slowed. The slow increases as you level this up.
THE PROS +High Single Target Damage +Can Escape Easily +Can Chase Easily +Ranged God +Overpowered Ultimate |
|
THE CONS -Anti-CC Items like Magi's Blessing makes Medusa's ultimate less powerful -Lacerate won't help you escape if gods are surrounding you -Mastering the art of Medusa will require a skill of about 7 -If you can't learn to dodge or be able to slightly predict enemy movements, Medusa is not for you |
These boots will help you chase an enemy, or escape them. If you'd like you can swap this out for a Warrior Tabi for more damage. ` This hammer reduces your target's movement speed and attack speed for 2 seconds if hit by your basic attacks which helps Medusa when chasing. Every second counts. |
This is the real killer. This is for more physical power, increased chance of critical strikes, and the amazing 50% critical damage increase as well. ` This item gives your basic attacks 50% more damage from items AND BUFFS for 5 seconds after using an ability and 50 physical power along with a 15% cooldown reduction. |
The Executioner is mainly for the damage and the passive. If you bought Talaria Boots instead of a Warrior Tabi, the attack speed will make up for the loss. ` This item is pretty overpowered. This item has an aura that deals 40 Magical Damage per second to enemies within 25 units. The area range may seem small, but it can really screw over your enemies. Like how certain gods leave a tick on your health and then BOOM! You're dead. |
Well, I've talked about the items, the abilities, but that means nothing if you don't know how to play Medusa. The spoiler below is for players new to ranged gods.
Have you ever locked on to Medusa only to find out that your going up against ANOTHER Medusa? And to make matters worse; of a higher mastery? All you want to do is show everyone that you're a better Medusa than the other team. Well, fear no more! Here are some tips and items you should use.
Magi's Blessing
This is a very critical when playing against a Medusa. Even if you're not in the same lane as her, you never know when a Medusa is going to come in for a gank. This item makes Medusa's ultimate; Petrify; not as effective. Instead of being turned to stone you get slowed and take half damage. |
. | This might be something your doppelganger isn't including in their build. This item will give you an advantage over your opponent, giving you more physical power. So not only are you able to withstand your doppelganger's face, but now you will be more powerful than him. |
I hope you enjoyed my guide and I hoped that this helped. I understand this may have been a bit confusing. This is my first SmiteFire guide, and I plan to make more in the future. I plan on making a Ratatoskr and Thanatos guide as well. Don't forget to share this guide with your friends and family and I hope you all have a great day! Bye!

Dude .. Did you even try that build on an ADC or a mid ?
I did, and umm .. It's okay early game.
But the downfall is very simple, no lifesteal, and no
late game carrying potential. This makes Medusa a Loki
without a vanish. You cann kill one enemy god, and then have
to teleport back to base for healing.
It could work on Joust 1v1 maybe, but no way this is working
in a teamfight. Medusa gets focused a lot, and with no healing
whatsoever, you'll never survive to see a second kill.
This actually works really well in Joust. I have realize the error of my ways, and I will update this guide. Thank you so much for your feedback as it is much appreciated.
