Lore:
Destruction is unavoidable. His children, followers of his wisdom, now corrupt with rage and imprisoned inside Armageddon. Thoth has returned, but there was no more harmonious knowledge to pursue. He had become discouraged to the lengths he went to obtain the ultimate knowledge.
Kill. Scribe. Obtain. Repeat. The god of wisdom has always been a wrathful god. For years this war had began to rupture the foundations of the earth and sky. It had been fortold that the sun would be swallowed, plunging all the worlds in endless darkness, signaling the end of ancient Egypt as he knew it. But a war amongst other gods, other pantheons, other than Egypt: such devastation could drive one into madness; to thirst and crave the divine wisdom that is spread throughout far more than he had once obtained amongst the ashes. Every god had their purpose in this realm. No god had stood idle any longer. This is war. This is death.
But with death came experience.
Destroy. Consume. Knowledge. Complete. His prize looms closer than ever before. These feelings of judgement and insurmountable power; they were slipping away from his finger tips by the second. In order to complete the book he must risk the foundations of the lands that brought him life; he does not have time to concern of the casualties along the way. The hunger inside him continues to fester, and that is of no consequence.
Thoth has felt upon the ultimate knowledge.
For Knowledge is might.
And he will obtain it.
Appearence:
The drawing is a pretty close interpretation. Still having his Flamingo head, but looks as if he's gone into madness. His color scheme would be pretty close to Anubis, only his skin would be tan and his clothes would be a lighter black. Instead of holding the rod, he would be holding a book in his left hand and his right hand would glow when he did a basic attack as he swung, and an orb would float to his right side.
Book of the Dead
Thoth gains 2 Magic Power per page completed in his book, receiving 2 pages per god kill and 1 page per minion kill. Pages are reset on death. (max. 35 pages) Additionally, for each stacking item Thoth buys, the pages are increased by 15 pages. (max. 80 pages)
My Thoughts
I wanted Thoth to have an excuse to buy the Book of Thoth. If his max. magical power obtained from his passive is 70 magical power, buying Book of Thoth makes it equivalent to a D.O if you stack it afterward. Throw in a Warlock's Sash and his completed stacks are at 130 magical power.
Perception
Thoth throws out then pulls back his intellectual sphere, passing through all enemies dealing 50/75/100/125/150 (+40% of his magical power). If it hits an enemy god, the sphere may be thrown again, detonating on the first enemy hit for an additional 10% damage output.
Cost: 70/75/80/85/90
Cooldown: 13/12/11/10/9s
Range: Just a little more than a minion wave.
Casting Time: .2s
My Thoughts
He Bo has Water Cannon, Vulcan has Backfire, Thoth has Perception. Though not quite his bread an butter, Perception is a high burst damage, hard to his skillshot ability. With it's ability to double hit upon return to Thoth, and no mana cost for it's second casting, it's a great wave clearing/poking mechanism for early game.
Destructive Boundaries
Thoth puts out a gate of energy that deals 60/100/130/150/160 (+50% of his magical power) to all enemies, slowing them by 20%, and silencing enemy gods for 1.5 seconds.
Duration: 2s
Cost: 80/85/90/95/100
Cooldown: 13s
Length: Enough to fit 2 1/2 enemy Gods
Placement Range: 30ft
Casting Time: .5s
My Thoughts
Just a CC device. Not meant to deal hard damage, but with its large radius, it has enough damage to finish off escaping enemies, if not, the silence should be long enough to cast Perception before they can escape.
3:\Divinity:
Thoth uses his book and writes the targeted enemy god's name inside it, filling a page. Once Thoth has the link between them, his book has a whole new set of skills to deal damage.
His first ability becomes: Detonation. Detonation deals 70/100/140/190/250 (+60% of his magical power). Detonate consumes the link, reverting Thoth back to his normal abilities.
His second ability becomes Turmoil. Turmoil fears for 1 second and slows by 40% for 3s. Turmoil resets the link.
His third ability becomes Suction. Suction leeches life from the enemy, dealing 5/15/25/35/45 (+60 of his magical power) every .5 seconds for 2 seconds. Using Detonate or Turmoil interrupts this ability. Suction does not affect the link.
Cost: 90/100/110/120/130
Cooldown: 19/18/17/16/15
Casr Radius: 25
Link Duration: 5s
Link Radius: 40
Casting time: .2s
My Thoughts
This is his bread and butter. Firstly: Casting the link. Think of Nemesis' Divine Judgement; you can't miss the shot. Afterward, it's like a mark, and casting the abilities is like Fiddlesticks casting his Life Drain ability. When the link is set, it is ideal to cast Turmoil, follow up with Suction (and let it finish), then use detonate to revert him to his old abilities. With each ability, the link between them changes color to notify you that the ability is cast.
Implosion:
Thoth charges up his most powerful spell from his book. After channeling for 3 seconds, Thoth blasts all enemy gods on the map, dealing 150/250/350/450/550 (+40% of his magical power)
Cost: 150/160/170/180/190
Cooldown: 120
My Thoughts
We don't have enough universal ults in SMITE. Let's fix that.
Introduction:
"What fools these gods must be. I must enlighten their hearts."
"Kill. Observe. I will obtain the ultimate knowledge."
"Such relentless fiends."
Abilities:
(1)Perception
"Perceive my might."
"I will redeem your soul."
(4)Implosion
"Knowledge is might. None are more worthy to conceal it."
"Perhaps...this world...is incapable of saving..."
"My children...corrupt must you be to choose the wrong path."
Death:
"Further...I drift away..?!"
"I will only return...stronger than my former self..!"
"The ultimate...sacrifice...!"
Low Health:
"Perhaps...there is more I must learn..."
"Ancient...Damnation..."
"Who else has more cunning to escape death itself?"
Kills:
Kill Streak:
"Soon...soon..."
"Have I achieved the ultimate power?"
"Immortals...tremble."
Jungle Boss:
"Who knew such devastation could wander the universe?"
"Scribe...and be contained."
"My book is near completion."
Tower:
"Yet another...falls."
"Even the finest foundations can crumble at my feet."
"We forge...onward!"
Items:
Recommended:
"This is the power I must contain."
"An object of my own creation (Book of Thoth)"
"My hunger...insatiable, as my power grows.
"This information was required."
Not Recommended:
"Will this honestly satisfy me?"
"A tool for glory."
"Whatever need be done."
Consumable:
"A recipe of my own concoction."
"Refreshments."
This is a pretty cool and unique interpretation of Thoth, who I usually see as a more benevolent figure.
The passive...wow, he seems insanely strong at the early game, like an inverse Zhong Kui and his Demon Bag. But this passive is still overpowered. "for each stacking item Thoth buys, the pages become even more divine, and this magical power is doubled." Which means with two stack items, such as Warlock's Sash + Book of Thoth, the passive alone would grant 280 magical power (70 x 2^2).
Perception, assuming I'm interpreting this right, is similarly overpowered. 180% of your magical power means this can beat some ultimates in scaling. Combined with the short cooldown, and the detonation effect allowing a third hit, this ability alone will deal 450 base + 270% of your magical power, as a 8 second cooldown ability. I hope I don't have to explain further.
Destructive Boundaries is weird, but in a good way. It seems fairly balanced, although if it can be placed instantly, it'd be even stronger than Soul Reap as a ganking ability. The silence scaling with level is also inconsistent.
Divinity is...odd. Am I correct in that this is essentially upgrading each other basic ability? I honestly think you need to clarify the "link" and how it works before I can make any judgements on this.
The ultimate is fine. Karthus ult, blah blah. But you didn't put a cooldown.
Overall, this god feels way too stronk. His passive suggests a power surge in the early game, but judging by his fantastic scalings and high burst, he remains just as strong in the late game. And seriously, 280 power is scary. Hell, even if it were 140 MP, it'd still be too strong, since stacking Doom Orb is possible at level 5 or earlier. I do not look forward to potentially 280 MP at level 5-8 (Doom Orb + 140 MP from passive), when other mages have around 90.
Now, for my advice for tweaks.
(Suggestion for Perception: If this is a ranged harass/waveclear ability, like Backfire, then it needs to deal less damage. 40% scalings, I think, would be perfect.)
I'm sorry I couldn't be more thorough, but the three is simply too murky for me to tell anything.
This looks extremely interesting and well done! You should put this on the Smite Godconcept subreddit or the official forums, so that more people can see! This is a very different and unique approach to Thoth, and I love it! It's bloody amazing!
EDIT; I absolutely LOVE the lore you've made for him! Again, a very unique and uínterresting approach to Thoth!
Very interesting, haven't seen many suggestions for Thoth while he was rendered as one of the most important gods! Is the 3rd ability a stance change? Very unclear and his passive seems a bit too empowering. But I see you put your time into it, is that your drawing?
@Subzero Thanks man, I see my flaws. I reverted the Book of the Dead, nerfed Perception, put a casting time on Destructive Boundaries and removed the fear scaling, and further explained Divinity.
With Thoth's first ability, think of it as pretty similar to Ahri's Q and his second ability similar to Karthus' W. Divinity is my own special and the ult is well...self explanatory. Divinity is my own creation. I tried explaining it as best as I could, but it's quite hard.
@Vultoko Thank you! From what I know, Thoth preached knowledge like Jesus preached God. Having gone into war, he never stopped seeking the knowledge he so desperately achieved. Anyone can become corrupt. Even a god.
@Greenrivers Done and Done. And no, unfortunately it isn't my drawing. I don't have a scanner. :c
Hope you guys liked this one, because I got Set coming shortly after! :D
